Session Policies & Expectations

We encourage students to come to each session on time and ready to learn, with any materials, assignments, or questions they may have. Being prepared helps tutors personalize each session and make the most of the time together. Active participation allows students to gain confidence, stay engaged, and get the greatest benefit from their tutoring experience.

Communication is essential to your student’s success at TLC. We ask families to maintain clear and timely communication with their tutor to ensure the best possible outcomes. Please confirm scheduled sessions and provide advance notice of any changes or adjustments. Open communication allows tutors to prepare effectively, support student progress, and ensure each session is meaningful and productive.

Our team is dedicated to fulfilling the educational needs of our children. We understand that sometimes schedules change. However, to maintain fairness and respect for both our tutors’ and students’ time, the following cancellation policy is in effect: If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us at least 48 hours before the scheduled session. In such cases, we will offer a full refund or the opportunity to reschedule at a mutually convenient time. Regarding in-home services: We reserve the right to charge you for late cancellations. A full session rate shall be applied if the tutor is already on their way or arrives to find the student unavailable (either not home or otherwise engaged in an activity that precludes the scheduled session). Please remember that a parent or guardian must be present in the home while the tutor works with a scholar. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the session will be subject to the full fee. T.L.C. will have the option to reschedule. Last-minute cancellations due to illness or family emergencies will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Failure to attend a scheduled session without prior notice will also be charged at the full session rate. Consistent reschedules/cancellations may result in a scholar being removed from the roster. Result-driven instruction requires consistency. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a smooth and efficient tutoring schedule for everyone. Thank you for entrusting us with the educational needs of your scholar.*
*All Step Up clients are subject to the same cancellation policy as self-paying students. Invoices for scheduled services are issued by Monday morning of the current week, typically following the standard Sunday billing cycle.
